“Yokohama Urban Solutions Study (YUSS)” Program
Yokohama City University (YCU) will host a 8-week, full scholarship research program in this autumn–called Yokohama Urban Solutions Study (YUSS)–designed for our partner universities. The program is for graduate students (Masters, Ph.D, or young researchers) to learn more about the variety of issues related to sustainable urban development in Yokohama city. YCU is now calling for applications. Throughout their stay in Yokohama, we will help them learning about the experience of Japanese cities, including how they tackled the challenges confronted during the period of economic growth. The applicants will be selected by YCU’s Committee based on their research proposal.
YCU implemented the first Yokohama Urban Solutions Study (YUSS) Program in 2016 for graduate students who wishes to learn the history and lessons of Yokohama City, on how it addressed the various urban problems, what countermeasures were taken to cope with its urban challenges. YUSS intends to provide participants with the knowledge needed to adapt these urban solutions to rapidly growing cities. In 2016 and 2017, total 12 graduate students and researchers/lecturers were selected and completed the Program.
For 2018, YCU is calling for applicants from Asia, Canada and the Czech Republic, from YCU’s partner universities.
